Ever thought of what Zanzibar is? Think no further, Zanzibar is a city in Tanzania. Its known for its collection of Islands. It is often times referred to as Unguja, which is the Swahili term for Zanzibar.

Zanzibar consists of several islands in the coast of East Africa, South of the Somali Sea. The Archipelago is popularly known as the SPICE ISLAND. It has four main islands; the UNGUJA, PEMBA, MAFIA which as several human populations over there and the LATHAM ISLAND which serves as a breeding ground for seabirds, and other tiny isolated islets.
1. Unguja Island; it has the largest cologuilly referred to as the Zanzibar. It has a population of roughly 81672. It is the most visited part of Zanzibar. Most people are usually overwhelmed by the beauty of the island and as a result Unguja is popularly known as the Zanzibar itself.
2. Pemba Island; it also has a population of 406808 and it is the second largest island in the Archipelago of Zanzibar.
3. Mafia Island; it is clearly one of the inhabited islands with a population of 46850.
4. Latham Island; Latham is the smallest amongst the four main islands and the uninhabited island.

Zanzibar, Unguja, is in the Indian Ocean, lying 22 miles [35km] off the coast of East-Central Africa.
Coconut palms and other vegetation cover the surface land. On the west of the sea, flows small rivers and they disappear in the Coral countries.
The climate is typically tropical, humid wihh an average annual rainfall of 60 to 80 inches. Rainfall is reliable an evenly distributed.
Small patches of indigenous forest and large trees supports the view of the Island making it look covered with dense evergreen forest.
As part of the islands in the Archipelago, Misali, Mnemba, kwale and their mates can not be left out.
Other Islands of The Archipelago
Changu, Pamunda, Chambe, Misali, Uzi, Chapwani, Murogo, Kwale, Vundure, Daloni, Fondo, Njao, Kokota, Pange. All these and several Islands makes up the ZANZIBAR ARCHIPELAGO
